The Memphis Grizzlies have been absent from the Free Agency market. Yet, somehow they have been one very busy team in the offseason. They have been working towards building a better roster for the future. They went 38-34 last season and had much to improve. But when they pulled off a shocking trade that acquired them, Patrick Beverley, it seemed like they had hit the jackpot. However, the Grizzlies had other plans in mind and have now ended up trading the veteran guard to the Minnesota Timberwolves.
How did Patrick Beverley land up with the T-Wolves?
Patrick Beverley isn’t a stranger to moving around in the league. That’s practically all he has been doing recently. First, he was signed by the LA Clippers to team up with Paul George and Kawhi Leonard, a move that changed his career. However, he quickly lost his spot in the starting lineup, which led to the Clippers trading him in exchange for Memphis Grizzlies‘ Eric Bledsoe.

But before he could put on the Memphis jersey, he has already been shipped off to the Minnesota Timberwolves. As per Adrian Wojnarowski, “The Memphis Grizzlies are trading Patrick Beverley to the Minnesota Timberwolves for Jarrett Culver and Juancho Hernangomez.”
“Minnesota gets the toughness and leadership of Beverley for its young, developing roster. Gersson Rosas had Beverley on his team with Rockets and knows what he brings. Memphis continues to add talent along the margins, including Culver, who’s only 22 and a former No. 6 pick.”

What can he bring to the table for the Timberwolves?
Teaming Pat Bev with players like Karl-Anthony Towns, Anthony Edwards, and D’Angelo Russell could prove to be a recipe for success. But that also depends on whether or not he can remain healthy.

He was a fan favorite in LA, and fans and analysts weren’t happy with the Clippers moving him. Even though he hasn’t been an excellent contributor on the offensive end, his hustle and defense are much-needed for Minnesota. The Timberwolves are going through an upgrade themselves. Thus, Patrick Beverley could be the perfect veteran presence, leading a group of young stars who are hungry for victories.
