In February, the basketball world was hit with a big shock. Traveling to write another chapter in her basketball journey, Brittney Griner was detained in Russia. Ever since the former WNBA Defensive Player of The Year hasn’t returned home. Away from her loved ones for all these months, the USA is making efforts to bring back the basketball icon.

Notably, the detention came at an airport near Moscow. The two-time Olympic gold medal winner was caught in possession of cannabis oil vape cartridges. That gave the start to one of the biggest controversies in the basketball world. Both the players and the leagues have come out to show support for Griner.
