Kyrie Irving and LeBron James formed one of the best duos in the league during their time with the Cleveland Cavaliers. A few months ago, a reunion was looking more than possible with rumors linking Irving to the Lakers.

However, the former Rookie of the Year is ready to play this season with the Brooklyn Nets despite all the rumors. Recently, eminent analyst Stephen A. Smith dropped a bombshell on Irving’s future that has NBA fans and Lakers fans, in particular, buzzing.

Stephen A. Smith does not have the best of relationships with Kyrie Irving. He has bashed the Brooklyn Nets star in the past and the two certainly don’t like each other.

Recently, Smith revealed that Irving will not be resigning with the Nets after the 2022-23 season. This opens the doors for Irving to join the Los Angeles Lakers and LeBron James. Smith said, “Kyrie’s not re-signing with Brooklyn. Kyrie’s planning on going to Los Angeles. He’s trying to go to Los Angeles.

While many fans are hyped about this news, a section of fans does not believe in Stephen A. Smith’s words. Interestingly enough, some fans also believe Golden State Warriors legend Draymond Green might also join the Lakers.

Green has a good relationship with LeBron James and he has not had the best of times negotiating with the Warriors over his contract extension. Seeing the former Defensive Player of the Year in new colors will certainly not be impossible.

Kyrie Irving has one year left on their contract with the Nets. He exercised his player option for the 2022-23 season which will earn him around $36 million this season. Irving joining the Lakers was one of the biggest rumors during the offseason. However, the move never worked out but it might be possible in the future if Stephen A. Smith’s prediction comes true.
