But, since basketball is a team sport, it is important to have teammates who know what it takes to win. This is the platform on which a superteam is built. On a superteam, multiple star players join hands to pursue a championship. This was the exact case with LeBron moving to Miami to join forces with Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh. With this move, LeBron won 2 out of the 4 championships that he now today.
The same can be said about Kevin Durant. When Durant left OKC to join the Warriors, it created one of the most lethal squads in NBA history. Here, Durant would experience championship success by winning 2 back-to-back titles. Larry Bird’s opinion on Superteams
In the wake of LeBron‘s choice to return to Cleveland, NBA legend, Larry Bird expressed his point of view on Superteams in the NBA.
“Free agency started all that. When LeBron decided to go back to Cleveland, you see a number of players rallying around him and wanting to go to Cleveland. I call them Cocktail Guys,” said Bird.
“They all want to be where the action is. You really can’t blame them. This league is about doing your best, making a lot of money, and winning,” he explained.

LeBron James and Kevin Durant on Superteams
In addition to being on a superteam, both James and Durant were the leaders of the respective squads. As the frontmen of their franchises, they were the ones who took critical decisions that the rest of the team followed. It was under James’ leadership that Miami would win two titles consecutively, and Cleveland would win their first ever title.
Durant also led the Warriors to success despite being surrounded by a cast of stars that included Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green. Here, he would win two titles.
