There haven?t been many individuals in any sport to have an impact or success comparable to that of Michael Jordan. It would not be an overstatement to say that there are only a handful of people in the whole world who can be kept in the same bracket as Jordan. And as for basketball, there only might be a couple.?
Michael Jordan, with all his success, also became the richest athlete in the world. Jordan’s competitiveness was always evident on the basketball court. But beyond that court as well he found multiple ways to satisfy his competitiveness. Jordan still loves playing golf and apart from that, he also has a keen interest in gambling.
It is so competitive that it gets addictive, and it was like that for Michael Jordan as well. At least for quite a while. It got up to that extent that he once missed visiting the White House after his first ring and ended up owing $57,000 to James “Slim” Bouler.

Bouler used to play golf, bet on golf, and gamble with Jordan. During a three-day weekend in 1992, James and Jordan gambled big money and Jordan ended up owing James $57,000.
Now because Jordan did not have cash at that time, he decided to write James a check. And James accepted it because it was MJ writing a check. James said, ?Yeah he wrote me a check. I mean you know a check for Mike is a good check. it’s not like rubber, that ain’t gonna bounce. So anybody in their right mind would say, ?hey write me a check I’ll get it later’. So he wrote me a check and I never received it. Because when I did receive it, I had it one day and the federal government took it the next day.?
The actual reason the check from Michael Jordan bounced
Soon after the weekend with Michael Jordan, James Bouler was convicted of money laundering and drug possession. Michael Jordan also had to make an appearance to testify in front of the court.
