Billionaire LeBron James ‘Bribed’ Someone to Give Up Their Porsche and Splashed $2.2M to Buy It After Lakers’ 2020 Triumph

LeBron James once had to ‘bribe’ someone to acquire this limited edition luxury vehicle following his brilliant showing in the 2020 NBA Finals. As it turns out, King James ended up spending a whopping $2.2 million on his coveted acquisition. However, LeBron James didn’t hesitate to part with the sum to celebrate his fourth championship ring with a sensational Porsche 918 Spyder.

After the Los Angeles Lakers won the 2020 NBA championship, they didn’t get a championship parade due to Covid restrictions. Therefore, LeBron had to find a unique way to quench his thirst for a well-deserved victory celebration. In other words, he decided to buy his dream car.

However, there appeared a major pitfall. Apparently, the company had seized producing LeBron’s desired model of Porsche cars. But the four-time NBA champion didn’t abandon hope so easily.

As it turns out, the model of Porsche LeBron James was after, held the reputation of being the fastest accelerating car on the planet. In fact, it put to shame most elite luxury vehicles with its capacity to absolutely take off.

For that very reason, the owners of the cars refused to give up their prized possessions. However, the Lakers superstar was adamant. As a result, he decided to up the stakes and make it difficult for the owners to keep rejecting offers.

In the end, LeBron managed to score a deal after splashing $2.2 million on the vehicle. The original cost of the car had been $845,000. However, the 18-time All-Star had to part with almost three times the original price to acquire his desired all-black Porsche 918 Spyder.

LeBron’s 2020 extension

Just before his 36th birthday in December 2020, LeBron signed a two-year $85 million contract with the Lakers. The deal secured a staggering $435 million in NBA contract money for the four-time MVP by the end of the extension.

Therefore, it’s not surprising at all that James would spend $2.2 million on a luxury car. Meanwhile, the four-time Finals MVP turned eyeballs after hitting the road with his new possession. Subsequently, a video documenting James rattling the roads in his Porsche went viral on the Internet.
