Matchups between the?Memphis Grizzlies and the Golden State Warriors?have started to develop an extra edge as of late. Since the Grizzlies were eliminated by the Warriors from the Western Conference semi-finals in last year?s playoffs, the Memphis squad seems extra aggressive whenever they play Golden State. Recently, the defensive anchor of the Warriors squad?appeared on ?The Volume? podcast. Green was asked whether the Warriors have developed a new rivalry with the high-flying Grizzlies, led by their star point guard, Ja Morant.?
Green was quick to shut down any possibility of the two team?s matchups as a possible rivalry. The four-time NBA champion said, “I don’t think they’ve accomplished enough yet to consider it a rivalry.?
Whether Green was right or not, fans sure seemed to agree with him. One fan tweeted, ?Honestly grizzlies biggest accomplishment on the last 5-10 years was almost fighting Shannon Sharpe.?

Rivals can be based on more than one thing. If a team beats you in what should have been your close-out game – by about 75 points – then dances a circle around you, they become, de facto, a rival. Just embrace it. Fun for all of us. @Money23Green

Media try to hype up the upcoming game
This is not the first time when a Golden State Warriors player has shut down a possible rivalry conversation between the two teams. The last time these two teams met, Warriors guard Klay Thompson had somewhat similar thoughts to what Draymond Green said.?
Even though the Warriors perhaps do not feel threatened by the Grizzlies, the feeling, however, is not mutual. The Memphis Grizzlies have arguably made it one of their priorities to get the upper hand over the reigning NBA champions.?
