Matchups between the?Memphis Grizzlies and the Golden State Warriors?have started to develop an extra edge as of late. Since the Grizzlies were eliminated by the Warriors from the Western Conference semi-finals in last year?s playoffs, the Memphis squad seems extra aggressive whenever they play Golden State. The last matchup between the two teams had fans on the edge of their seats too. However, when asked about their game against Ja Morant and co., Warriors star Draymond Green immediately shut down any potential hype for the future. ?

The Golden State Warriors will host the Memphis Grizzlies next. The last time these two teams met was on Christmas day when the Warriors managed to come out with a win, despite the absence of Stephen Curry.?

Green plays down Ja Morant and the Grizzlies as rivals

Recently, the defensive anchor of the Warriors squad?appeared on ?The Volume? podcast. Green was asked whether the Warriors have developed a new rivalry with the high-flying Grizzlies, led by their star point guard, Ja Morant.?

Green was quick to shut down any possibility of the two team?s matchups as a possible rivalry. The four-time NBA champion said, “I don’t think they’ve accomplished enough yet to consider it a rivalry.?

Whether Green was right or not, fans sure seemed to agree with him. One fan tweeted, ?Honestly grizzlies biggest accomplishment on the last 5-10 years was almost fighting Shannon Sharpe.?

Media try to hype up the upcoming game

This is not the first time when a Golden State Warriors player has shut down a possible rivalry conversation between the two teams. The last time these two teams met, Warriors guard Klay Thompson had somewhat similar thoughts to what Draymond Green said.?

Even though the Warriors perhaps do not feel threatened by the Grizzlies, the feeling, however, is not mutual. The Memphis Grizzlies have arguably made it one of their priorities to get the upper hand over the reigning NBA champions.?
