Shaquille O’Neal and the city of Orlando have a long history, starting from him getting drafted as the first overall pick in 1992 to buying and selling his luxurious mansion in the city. As it turns out, the 76,000 square-foot Orlando mansion chapter is still not over for Shaq. The mansion once admittedly made the Los Angeles Lakers legend feel lost and depressed. However, Shaq opened up about the idea of repurchasing the same mansion recently in his podcast.

The 4x NBA Champion bought the lavish mansion in 1993 for $4 Million and sold it to a dentist for $28 Million in 2021. After two years, the mansion has again come up in Shaq’s mind. And he might end up buying it for his bizarre reason.

Shaquille O’Neal had two dreams about his Orlando mansion

In the recent episode of ‘The Big Podcast’, Shaquille O’Neal expressed his wish to buy a Florida-based NBA franchise and run it by living in the same city. Therefore, there came up the topic of Shaq deciding to move to the city of Orlando, since one of the two Florida-based NBA teams is the Orlando Magic. Spice Adams, one of the hosts of the show, asked Shaq whether he will buy back his old mansion if he decided to move to Orlando.

Dr. Shaq was immediately reminded of the two dreams he recently had in which he got the mansion back. He went on to narrate both the dreams, “My first dream is, I came in big time, how much and the wife[the Dentist’s wife] was being smart, 30 [Million dollars] and I said okay I’ll take it“.

He continued about the second dream, “The other dream was, I’ll uh, well I’ll, I’ll force them out like I buy everything next door and we’ll just have wild parties and do all that stuff“. Although the Big Diesel thought about buying the same mansion, he also floated the possibility of buying a new one.

Why did Shaq sell the Orlando mansion?

Shaq considered his divorce from his wife Shaunie a self-inflicted dark moment in his career. He felt that he definitely could have avoided the divorce. After his divorce, Big Diesel felt lost in his own house. In fact, he once admitted, “When I didn’t have that, I don’t like to use the D (depressed) word, but I was lost. 76,000 square-foot house by yourself, lost. No kids… I go to the gym and their rooms, but nobody was there.” However, the big man is currently in a much better place than he was before.
