NBA superstar Stephen Curry led the Golden State Warriors to a title last season. The Warriors with Curry, Klay Thompson, Jordan Poole, Draymond Green, and the supporting crew did their part. The league was a well-balanced team, and they clicked on all cylinders. Curry was at his usual unstoppable best in the playoffs and won his first-ever Finals MVP award. However, at the beginning of the 2021-22 season, he was not happy with the team. He wanted the management to make some moves for a superstar to be a contender.

The one superstar that Curry wanted is none other than Ben Simmons. At the time, Simmons was playing for the Philadelphia 76ers. But he wanted out of the team after what happened in the playoffs the previous year. So Curry wanted the Warriors to make a move for the talented superstar. But the Warriors management could not make a move to land Simmons.

And the Australian joined the Brooklyn Nets to play with superstars Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. So the former MVP was not happy with the efforts, and?he left his feelings known.

Stephen Curry wanted Ben Simmons but Jordan Poole stepped up

Stephen Curry made an appearance on the ‘Brother From Another’ podcast in 2021 where he revealed his disappointment with the lack of investment. “Let’s say if you’re not having those conversations, then you’re not trying, let’s put it that way,” said?Curry. Interestingly, it was not just him. Curry, Green, and Thompson have all made it clear to the club’s directors that another top-level player is needed to make them contenders.

However, this has been a huge blessing in disguise for the Warriors. If they had traded for a superstar, youngsters like Jordan Poole would not have had the same level of game time they had last season. This exposure has been a huge factor in the improvement of Poole in the last season.

The season before, Poole played 51 games, started 7, and played 19 minutes per game in the regular season. Last season, he played 76 games, started 51, and played 30 minutes per game. This huge 10 minutes on the floor has worked wonders for the youngster. And he averaged a career-high 18.5 points per game. He also played a huge role in the playoffs and the Finals.

On the other hand, Simmons did not play a single minute for the Nets. There was a lot of controversy about him sitting out in the playoffs. And he received a major backslash. However, he looks ready to prove his doubters wrong this season.
