Donovan Mitchell and New York City are a match made in heaven. After an entire off-season where Mitchell joining the Knicks seemed an inevitability, the Cleveland Cavaliers snuck in at the last moment. However, that hasn’t diminished Donovan’s New York fandom. His love for the city first became apparent with his baseball choices. After a tough playoff exit against the same Knicks, it seems like Donovan has something unexpected in mind. While there are a lot of things about Michael Jordan that any NBA player should and does try to emulate, there is one exception to the rule.
Sadly, it seems like Donovan is heading down that path.

Mitchell’s love for the Mets is a matter of fact. He is regularly sporting the team’s jersey or cap in his pregame outfit. Last year, he even took batting practice with the team. However, not just loyal to his hometown, Mitchell’s fandom stems from familial love.
His father has been an employee of the organization since 1999. Due to this proximity, Mitchell was constantly around the team and famously idolized players like David Wright. Before Donovan Mitchell’s basketball ascension, he was focusing on baseball.

However, his dreams of going professional were sadly crushed. After suffering an injury, Mitchell had to make the switch to basketball in his sophomore high school season. It seems like Mitchell might be looking for a rewrite.
As he tweeted out a collage of his visit to the Mets game, Mitchell simply captioned it, “Maybe One Day I?ll Switch”?The Mets would surely love to acquire someone with Mitchell’s talent and drive. Let’s just hope his stint with baseball goes better than a certain Bulls legend.

As the Cavaliers’ season reached an unexpectedly early end, rumors started floating about. A loss against his hometown Knicks added further fire to the speculation. Now, as Mitchell made his way to the Citi Field stadium, rumors are back.
His Subway Series appearance caused fans to go berserk. His choice of attire might genuinely be a hint. With Donovan’s contract set to expire next season, perhaps, a move to New York could be imminent.
