WNBA star Brittney Griner has spent over 200 days in prison. With little freedom and a tense atmosphere, she has been trying everything to stay positive. From reading books to even trying to go vegan, Griner has tried it all.

However, it is no easy task. Griner’s situation is very sensitive with the whole world having its eyes on the Phoenix Mercury star. Needless to say, she received both love and hate during this period.

Athletes from all across the world have voiced their opinion on Griner. WNBA stars have not been behind in supporting a fellow athlete. Legends like Diana Taurasi and Breanna Stewart have come out openly to voice their solidarity with Griner.

Just days before Brittney Griner’s wife made a shocking revelation about her state in prison, Taurasi gave us an insight into how Griner is trying to stay positive. Taurasi said, “You can tell she’s trying to find the joy of just waking up every day.

Moreover, she also revealed that Brittney Griner tried to go vegan in prison. However, she had to revert back to her normal diet as staying vegan clearly was not working.

Recently, Cherelle Griner, wife of the controversial WNBA star revealed details about Griner’s life in prison. According to her, Griner is afraid of being forgotten by people. Furthermore, she said that her wife is at the “absolute weakest moment in life right now” as BG faces nine years in prison.

The Russian court will be hearing appeals from Griner’s side on the 25th of October. This date is quite significant as it can decide whether Griner will return back to the United States or will stay in prison.

WNBA athletes are paid significantly low compared to their male counterparts in the NBA. For this reason, athletes like Brittney Griner are forced to take their talents elsewhere in the offseason.

Despite the high salaries offered by Russian teams, players are skeptical about playing there. Breanna Stewart was one of the biggest stars to confirm this. “Nobody’s going to go there until she’s home“, said Stewart. According to Bleacher Report, none of the players who spent their offseason in Russia will be returning this year.
