When the Los Angeles Lakers won the NBA title in 2020, their leader LeBron James joined an elite club that only has a handful of players. Before him, it was Robert Horry, who is a seven-time NBA champion. And the first member of this elite club was a former Detroit Pistons legend who achieved this feat in the early 2000s.
LeBron joined an illustrious club when he won his fourth title in 2020. He became only the third member to win a championship with three different teams. He won his first title with the Miami Heat and followed it up with another title. Then he won another title with the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2016. And he followed it up with another title in 2020, completing his historic feat.

Even his teammate Danny Green joined the club when he won his third title with the Lakers.
Before LeBron James and Robert Horry, a Pistons legend achieved this incredible feat
The first member of the club was Detroit Pistons legend, John Salley. He won his first two titles with the Pistons, and he followed them up with his third title with the Chicago Bulls. Afterwards, in his final season, he won his fourth title with the Lakers.
Even Lakers legend Byron Scott was impressed with Salley’s achievements. He said,” The first player to win three championships with three different teams… Then Big shot Bob followed your lead after that.”?

Robert Horry was the second member of the elite club and he has seven titles to his name. He won his first two with the Houston Rockets when they went back to back. After that, he won three more with the Lakers . Hee was even Salley’s teammate for a while. Then he followed it up with a couple more titles with the San Antonio Spurs.

Salley became the first player to win three titles with three different teams and then Horry, LeBron, and Green followed it up. Salley also became the first player to win three titles in three different decades and only Tim Duncan has emulated that. These players have shown that they were able to replicate success at different teams at different times. And Salley was the first one to ever do it.
