The Los Angeles Lakers are the latest to seal a playoffs berth after a nail-biting finish to the game against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Tuesday. LA star Anthony Davis discussed the team’s efforts to make it into the postseason during the press interaction after the game. He highlighted the probability of 0.03% that observers had predicted for the team to be able to enter the playoffs. AD also spoke up about his “brain fart” in the final moments of the game before stamping his team’s intentions well onto the press’ questions about the road ahead.

The LA team had a bumpy start to this season’s campaign with various issues afflicting the side. Notably, Davis missed a majority of games in the first half of the season due to an injury. The team also struggled with their performance, barely staying afloat within the top 10 seeds in the Western Conference that make it to the postseason. However, the team found the right mix just before the playoffs start and have made their way into the top 8.

After a tight finish to the game in overtime, Anthony Davis had several questions to answer from the press. One of the reporters asked AD about the team’s mentality after busting the media narrative of a 0.03% chance of making it to the playoffs. Davis responded to the reporter by noting the team’s progress climbing the table from near the bottom. In response to the 0.03% claim, he said that the team kept hearing the ‘percentage’ from the press and front office constantly and added, “Obviously, we defeated those odds.”

He further stated, “…seeing where we started, now we want to get greedy and make some noise and reach the playoffs.” Interestingly, Davis ended up hugely missing a crucial shot before going on to assist his team in their eventual victory.

AD almost lost it for the Lakers

With less than 10 seconds left in the game, Dennis Schroder dropped a three-pointer to gain a 3-point lead. However, Davis fouled at the three-point line with less than 2 seconds left in the game. Eventually, the Wolves dropped the 3 free throws and pushed the game into overtime. The Lakers won comfortably in overtime but the fans still had their hearts in their mouths after AD made a blunder. He eventually apologized for the mistake, addressing it during the press conference as well.

The Lakers are all set to take on the Memphis Grizzlies in the first round of the playoffs. Considering the nasty courtside spat between Shannon Sharpe and some of the Grizzlies recently in the Crypto.com arena, fans are surely expecting an exciting contest.
