As an analyst for the NBA on TNT, NBA legend?Charles Barkley?will be a huge part of the festivities. Furthermore, he will celebrate his 60th birthday on Feb. 20, 2023. The?Philadelphia 76ers?legend is infamous for partying and gambling during his NBA career, however, that is not the case now. During a recent appearance on a TV show, Barkley talked about his birthday celebration.
Charles Barkley on plans for his 60th birthday party
Charles Barkley recently appeared on the?Jimmy Kimmel Live show, discussing many interesting things. In one instance, the host, Jimmy Kimmel, asked him whether he would throw multiple parties for his 60th birthday. Barkley stated that he is not planning to throw any parties this time. The 2000 NBA MVP said he is just looking forward to spending a quiet night with his ten-month-old grandson. Barkley happily admitted his grandson was the greatest that ever happened to him.

Out of nowhere, Kimmel then asked,?“Will you teach him to gamble?”?Barkley and the crowd broke out laughing. The 11-time NBA All-Star replied,?“I gotta save money. Because by the time he go to college, it’s gonna be like a million dollars a year. I know it’s ridiculous in this great country we charge that much money for people to go to school.”

However, the Hall of Famer noted that he refrains from making parental decisions for his grandson. He added that telling parents how to raise their children is not good. Kimmel then asked whether he would go around showing his grandson’s pictures to everyone. Barkley stated that he does not do that and added his colleague and close friend Ernie Johnson does that all the time.
Barkley’s gambling issues
Charles Barkley has lost millions in gambling during his NBA career. According to reports, he once lost around $2.5 million in just six hours playing blackjack. Chuck once stated that?he realized his gambling was getting out of hand?because he always wanted to win over $1 million whenever he gambled. However, he maintained that he was not worried about it being an addiction because he always takes breaks. He has then kept gambling in moderation.

Barkley reportedly signed a 10-year contract extension with TNT recently for an expected nine figures. He now has an estimated net worth of $60 million.
