Raising kids is certainly no walk in the park. For parents, there are millions of responsibilities that they have to take upon themselves. Whether you are a famous actor or an NBA legend, parental duties apply to everyone. But of course, not all parents are the same because everyone has their own method of raising their kids. While some raise their kids in a strict manner or have everything planned out for them, others tend to ‘let them go’ and figure it out on their own. According to ex-wife Shaunie, NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal is slightly like the former type.
Evidently, Shaq has made it clear time and again that he isn’t going to easily pass over his inheritance to his kids. He had said in several interviews that his kids will have to work hard and earn it. Similarly, in a recent interview, Shaq said that he wants at least two degrees from his kids for them to get access to his $400 million net worth. Furthermore, he made it clear that they could be anything they wanted but his one demand was that his children need to be educated first and foremost.

Ex-wife Shaunie talks about the parenting style of Shaquille O’Neal
In a video uploaded by TMZ Sports, an interviewer caught up with Shaquille O’Neal’s ex-wife Shaunie for a quick chat. The interviewer recalled that Shaq had stated in a recent interview that both Shareef O’Neal and Shaqir O’Neal will make it to the league. Additionally, the interviewer said that a parent wouldn’t want to put such kind of pressure on their kids. In response, Shaunie jokingly said that he should tell that to the former Los Angeles Lakers star himself. She further revealed that she hadn’t seen the interview but had heard her kids talking about it.

“Shareef was telling Shaqir what Shaquille had said, and Shaqir was like, ‘Wait, what? I’m closing on the NBA?’ He loves basketball, don’t get me wrong. But, at 13, he’s chasing girls and thinking about going to NBA, so it’s a lot,” said Shaunie.
Furthermore, Shaunie added that they don’t pressurize their kids to play basketball if they don’t want to. She clarified that Shaq made the statement because he knew that both Shaqir and Shareef love basketball and intend to play the game.
