James Harden and his time with the Brooklyn Nets has been an up and down ride so far. When he was traded to them last year, he was slightly out of shape and took time to settle in. Once he settled in, he became the primary ball-handler for them and was racking up assists left, right, and center. He didn’t need to score as much in the past, but he still had that ability to explode in games.
But injuries to himself and other stars like Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant hampered the run. Harden was never himself after the injury and the Nets got bounced in the second round of the playoffs. He returned healthy and in shape, but with Kyrie Irving unable to join in the start, the Nets lacked the firepower. Harden has also struggled with the new rule changes and he has been injured lately, limiting his impact this year.
On Friday, the Nets took on the Utah Jazz, and they were blown out of the building. Harden sat out this game and the Nets just simply couldn’t keep with the Jazz and they lost 125-102. Harden was spotted in the arena pregame, but he wasn’t visible on the bench.

There have been reports that Harden wants out and several teams are interested in his services. Harden, who will be an unrestricted free agent in the summer, has not signed an extension and has not addressed his future either.
NBA Twitter believes James Harden has played his last game
Fans believe that this is the last they’ve seen the best of Harden in Brooklyn. After news came out that Harden wasn’t on the bench, NBA Twitter exploded. Here are some of the best reactions.
James Harden is not on the Nets bench tonight from what I saw but was in the arena pregame. Overreact to that any way you please.

Don’t want to overreact. But he’s never putting on a Nets uni again. Again, don’t want to overreact.

The nets don’t even look prepared to play. All on the coach. He shouldn’t be on the flight back to Brooklyn

He’s mentally checked out. When he was out vs GS he was on the bench now this story comes out and he’s not there

Nobody cares. He was a quitter on the rockets, he’s a quitter now. Good luck winning in Philly

A ton of skill but very little spine.

What’s next for the Nets?
The Nets are on a 7 game losing streak and have been terrible without Kevin Durant. They were first in the East at the start of the year and are currently in sixth. In fact, they are only a game and a half above the ninth-placed team. They need to pick up the slack as they would not want to be in the play-in tournament.

That would make their path in the playoffs that much harder. With Durant being out, the onus falls on Irving and Harden to keep them afloat. But with reports suggesting Harden wanting out, this would surely make the Nets uncomfortable for this season and beyond.
