Michael Jordan is one of the greatest athletes to ever play any sport. We already know his status within basketball, never being dropped below 2 on the all-time conversation of the sport. His insane winning ability is uncanny and unlike anything that the sport had seen before or has seen since.
However, every year brings more talent into the NBA. One talented guard that came into the league in 2018 was Luka Doncic, who already is in the MVP race as a sophomore. One of his main ways to dominate is by controlling every offensive aspect of the game, which makes him prone to racking up triple-doubles. Now, third-year Luka is about to leave Michael Jordan behind in all-time triple-doubles.
Another day, another triple-double for Luka Doncic.
His 27th triple-double moves him past Elgin Baylor for 17th all-time and 1 away from tying Michael Jordan.

Doncic is known to be a triple-double monster. There is a strong argument for him to be in the top three or maybe even top-two of this particular feat by the time it is all done. He already holds the Mavericks triple-double record. But this man is chasing all-time status in everything that he does.

Michael Jordan and Luka Doncic: Can the young Maverick replicate the icon?
Doncic is signed under the Jordan Brand. While it is a Nike off-shoot, Luka represents Jordan every time he steps on the court. This high status has come with elite play, and Doncic will look to keep rising within the sport.
He is incredibly young still, so dismissing any conversation for all-time is just as premature as starting it. However, Luka has already broken records that LeBron James had set stepping into the league. If most people cite LeBron as their counter to Jordan, there isn’t any reason to dismiss Luka from elevating himself to that status.

With that being said, that future is still far away. Luka will focus on winning games with his Mavs right now. Hopefully, he starts getting playoff success as well. His first time there was wonderful and could be a sign of more good things to come.
