A former California Attorney General candidate has questioned the Biden administration’s methods to secure Brittney Griner’s release. The controversial WNBA star is incarcerated in a Russian penal colony, serving a nine-year sentence for possession of reportedly less than a gram of cannabis oil. Griner has recently reached the IK-2 penal colony, where she awaits the horrors of forced labor camps. Amid the troubling times, former California AG candidate Eric Early has claimed that the immediate release of Brittney Griner demands an alternate solution.

Eric Early ran for the position of California’s Attorney General for the Republican Party in June 2022. However, the Southwestern Law School alumnus lost the elections in the primary. Early also fulfilled the responsibilities of a managing partner at a law firm. Recently, the Republican Party representative has taken a shot at POTUS Joe Biden by questioning the State Department’s strategy involving Brittney Griner.

Eric Early suggests an alternate solution to the Brittney Griner situation

Eric Early recently posted a tweet in order to bring urgent attention to Brittney Griner’s detention in Russia. He questioned the Biden Administration’s credibility to get the job done. In addition, Early also made a bold suggestion about bringing a former president to handle Brittney Griner’s case.

Eric Early wrote,?“@brittneygriner must be freed before she’s sent to this Russian hellhole. @JoeBiden and his admin don’t have the credibility or respect to get it done.”

Moreover, Early added,?“Time for Biden to ask @realDonaldTrump to do it for Brittney and our nation.”

Early took a dig at President Biden and his administration by questioning their credibility and reputation in dealing with such cases. He also suggested that Biden should ask for help from former President Donald Trump to secure Griner’s release. However, the suggestion might have come of as concerning news for Griner’s supporters given Trump’s previous comments on the issue.

Donald Trump on Brittney Griner

Back in late July, the State Department proposed a prisoner swap deal for the release of Brittney Griner and retired US marine, Paul Whelan. The White House offered to release a convicted Russian arms dealer Viktor Bout, infamously known as the ‘Merchant of Death.’?Bout is currently serving a 25-year prison sentence in the US.

However, former president Donald Trump did not approve of the prisoner swap deal. Trump argued against Bout’s release by claiming that he was ‘an absolute killer’. He reckoned that Bout was one of the world’s biggest arms dealers who contributed to killing many people, including American citizens.

Further, Trump also criticized Brittney Griner, calling her a ‘potentially spoiled person’. Donald Trump said, “She went in there loaded up with drugs into a hostile territory where they’re vigilant about drugs.”
