Things looked bleak for USMNT fans, as the team got knocked out of the 2022 FIFA World Cup after losing 3-1 to the Netherlands in the Round of 16. But as is always, good news came just in time to assuage deep wounds. And a woman is at the forefront of it all, and Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry made it a point to note and commemorate this occasion.
Julianne Sitch became the first woman to lead a men’s team to an NCAA national championship. Stephen Curry even celebrated the win and the history maker on social media. On his Instagram story, he shared an?ESPN post about her achievement and applauded Julianne Sitch.

Fans were incredibly happy with the glorious win. Sitch is the head coach for the University of Chicago’s men’s soccer team. She was seen in good spirits with her team running across the field.

After the win, Julianne Sitch credited her team for their stellar efforts. She also acknowledged that “these guys have never had a female coach before, and they embraced me as one of their own.”?
Notably, Sitch?guided her team to an undefeated record and kept their top seed in the NCAA Division III Final Four. Sitch reflected on her journey from playing on the boys’ teams when she was young, and now coaching athletes.
Stephen Curry, an advocate for women
Stephen Curry had written in the Players’ Tribune about his advocacy for women’s equality. The four-time NBA champion had hoped that his daughters would have access to many opportunities. “I want them to grow up in a world where their gender does not feel like a rulebook for what they should think, or be, or do“.

In 2018, he hosted a basketball camp for 200 girls to play the game. He said at the time he wanted to help “shift people’s perspectives”. Curry wanted to work towards an inclusive world, starting with sports.
It is these sentiments that crop up when Curry celebrates Julianne Sitch and her incredible achievement.

The Golden State Warriors player has arguably been playing one of his best seasons so far. The Warriors are currently 13-11 for the season while sitting in sixth place on the Western Conference table.
