Brittney Griner’s imprisonment has left a multitude of people upset. She was detained at a Russian airport on February 17 and accused of smuggling cannabis oil into the country. A Russian court sentenced the WNBA star to 9 years in jail after months of legal proceedings. Brittney Griner pled guilty to the charges but insisted that she had no intention of breaking Russian law.

The sentencing has outraged the WNBA and NBA world, as well as a plethora of celebrities. Several individuals have come forward and voiced their support for Griner and requested the US government to bring her back to home soil. Rapper Boosie Badazz is among many who have expressed their displeasure and even pointed fingers.

Boosie took to Instagram to voice his frustration with Griner’s lengthy imprisonment. He even made a Taylor Swift comparison to make his point.

“How the h— this girl get 9 years for a weed pen?” Boosie said. “And the USA ain’t do nothing about it. If that was Taylor Swift, there’d be a peace treaty right now. They’d be drafting to go to a war,” he added 

The rapper then went ahead and vented his frustration on Vice President Kamala Harris.

“What does that show for the Black women in the United States?” he said. “The vice president as a Black woman, you supposed to be on the frontline to get that Black woman out of jail. Y’all fu**ed up in this world,” he concluded.

According to reports, The United States and Russia have hinted that they are willing to engage in discussions over a prisoner swap.

Last month, in exchange for Griner and another American imprisoned in Russia, US authorities offered to release a Russian arms trafficker before the eventual conviction. Nonetheless, the trial proceeded as planned, and the WNBA player was convicted.
