Brittney Griner once took her now ex-wife Glory Johnson to a party with the promise of a lap dance. However, the WNBA star ended up pulling a move that swept Johnson off her feet and made her fall madly in love with her. As it turns out, Brittney Griner kneeled before Johnson and proposed to her in front of everybody at the party.

In an interview with Cosmopolitan magazine, former WNBA star Glory Johnson revealed the details of her short but tumultuous marriage with Brittney Griner. During the conversation, she explained why she married a woman despite being straight.

In addition, she also opened up about the events that made her fall in love with Griner.

Brittney Griner surprised Johnson with a bold move at a party

WNBA stars Brittney Griner and Glory Jonson met at a training camp in Las Vegas in 2013. Soon after, they hit it off and started dating. In August 2014, Griner took Johnson to a party with the vague promise of a lap dance.

This sudden move surprised the former Tulsa Shock star. She revealed her thoughts in the interview, “I was nervous, like are you really going to do a lap dance in front of all these people?”

Later on, Griner invited Johnson to sit on a chair blindfolded for a supposed lap dance. However, the Phoenix Mercury star had very different intentions in mind. After removing the blindfold, Johnson saw Griner kneeling before her with a ring.

Meanwhile, Johnson admits that she wasn’t ready for such a major decision. As it turns out, he felt overwhelmed by the whole situation and couldn’t say no. However, the 6’3″ forward wasn’t completely averse to the idea of marrying Griner either, “I was happy at the same time. It was something that I wanted.”

The two hoopers would get married in May 2015 despite a history of physical altercations. After less than a month of conjugal life, Griner would file for an annulment of the marriage contract. In October of the same year, Johnson would give birth to twin daughters 16 weeks premature through IVF.

Griner’s Russia situation

Meanwhile, Brittney Griner is currently facing a nine-year prison sentence in Russia. Earlier this year, Russian authorities discovered vape cartridges and cannabis oil in her belongings.
