LeBron James is certainly one of the greatest players in the NBA. Most NBA fans and analysts, with the exception of Skip Bayless, put LeBron in the top 3 of their Mount Rushmore of NBA legends. The Kobe Bryant and LeBron James debate is one that gets a lot of attention. Notably, Kobe Bryant is part of the NBA top 75 along with Lakers legend LeBron James.
Kobe Bryant has a 6-16 losing record against LeBron James. LeBron does rank above Kobe in most of the NBA statistics. He has more points than him and more NBA finals MVPs with his 4 to Kobe’s 2. Bryant has certified his legacy for generations to come. However, LeBron has 4 regular-season MVPs to his name versus Kobe’s single trophy. LeBron has also averaged 27.5 points compared to Kobe’s 25 over their entire career.

It is clear that LeBron has had a better case than Kobe and his longevity takes the edge. In an episode of What’s Wright? With Nick Wright, they put Kobe Bryant well below LeBron and Duncan at no. 6 in a list of top 10. LeBron was also a much more efficient scorer. Even though Kobe was one of the greatest scorers and leaders, his field goal percentage was .447 as compared to LeBron’s .515.

According to Nick Wright, LeBron is a better rebounder and passer. He also says that LeBron James takes the edge over Kobe defensively. Kobe Bryant has 1 playoff buzzer-beater to LeBron’s league-high 5. He ranks Duncan over Kobe in his list as well.
Nick says, “Okay, anyone that argues Kobe is better than LeBron loses their right to give NBA opinions.”

He says that the Kobe-LeBron debate is nonsense. The only debate worth talking about is the Kobe and Duncan comparison. He said Duncan has the same number of rings and rarely ever missed the playoffs.
LeBron looks up to Kobe rather than entertaining comparisons
Kobe Bryant helped recruit LeBron to the lakers. On the court and off it, the two shared mutual love and respect. There was no rivalry or jealousy between the them.

LeBron dedicated his championship with the Lakers to Kobe and was also spotted crying upon hearing the news of his demise. James also delivered a heartfelt eulogy at the Staples Center to celebrate Bryant’s life.

Nick Wright may put Kobe at the no. 6 spot. However, the legend has solidified his name in the sport as the best there was and ever will be.
