The Houston Rockets finished the 2022-23 NBA season in the second-last position in the Western Conference. The team was only ahead of the San Antonio Spurs who also had the same identical record, meaning Houston was basically dead-last in the West. But after firing their former coach Stephen Silas, the Rockets have finally found a worthy candidate for the head coaching position, leading Magic Johnson to react to it as well.

There was no doubt in the fact that the Houston Rockets were in rebuilding mode this last season. Which only meant that the team would not have a winning record. And now, amid the rumors surrounding James Harden, Lakers legend Magic Johnson could not be happier.

There has been chatter for quite some time now regarding James Harden?s potential return to the Houston Rockets next season. ESPN?s Tim MacMahon stated that there might be a possibility of Harden returning to the Rockets.

Now, according to a report by ESPN?s Adrian Wojnarowski, Ime Udoka has agreed to a deal to become the next Houston Rockets coach. Udoka?s last stint was with the Boston Celtics but was let go due to a violation of team policies.

Udoka led the Celtics to their first NBA finals since 2010 in his very first year in the league. He took over the Celtics when they were 18-21 and finished the season with a 51-31 record as the second-best team in the East.

The news of Ime Udoka singing with the Houston Rockets had Los Angeles Lakers legend Magic Johnson ecstatic. Johnson went on to his Twitter to react to this news.?

He tweeted, ?I reached out to Ime Udoka to say congratulations on accepting the Rockets head coaching job! Houston is getting a championship-caliber coach.?

Will James Harden be making a comeback to a rebuilding Rockets team?

The Houston Rockets? rebuilding season wasn?t a total disappointment if one looks at it from a certain perspective. The Rockets have acquired some great talented young players who they could build the team around.

Alperen Sengun, Jalen Green, and Kevin Porter Jr. are some of the names that have the potential to lead the team in the coming years. And now that the Rockets have finalized a deal with Ime Udoka, a proven head coach, the team will only get better.
