Even after achieving so much in his life, the NBA legend still has the hunger to achieve more. Although his next mission does not involve basketball, Magic has his eyes set on the NFL ring. During his recent chat on the Catching Up With… show on NBC, Magic revealed what he aims to achieve next in his life.
The Lakers icon said, “I’ve got a ring in every sport, but I need s Super Bowl ring.” As it turns out, Magic has been in talks with the Washington Commanders owner Daniel Snyder for the ownership of the team.
Magic is a part of the Josh Harris/Mitchell Rales investment group who will bid to be the next owners of the NFL team. Snyder announced last year that he is looking for potential buyers for his team. Since then, several notable personalities have shown interest in the acquisition.
The team’s value is estimated to be $5.6 billion, according to Forbes. Apparently, Jeff Bezos has also been lurking in the shadows after suffering a major setback in securing the deal.
Magic further said that since his father passed away recently, this can be a big and emotional moment for the Johnson family.

Magic Johnson aims to follow in Michael Jordan’s footsteps
Even though Black athletes dominate the NFL and the NBA, the same doesn’t apply when it comes to ownership in the leagues. It may be surprising for many that Michael Jordan is the only Black majority owner in the NBA. Jordan reportedly owns 97% of the Charlotte Hornets, a team he bought for $250 million back in 2010. The team is now valued at over $1.7 billion and His Airness is reportedly looking to sell his team.

Magic also said during his interview that he is excited about buying the Commanders as “another African-American owner” of a major league.
