The league is entering a phase where the teams continue to experiment with their lineups in order to find a championship-winning combination. However, the Los Angeles Lakers seem to have very few options left on their roster to experiment let alone to think of a championship, especially after Anthony Davis’ injury. Amid trade rumors regarding LeBron James running wild, Damian Lillard left millions of fans in tears after a recent emotional statement.
Damian Lillard has been a part of the Trail Blazers since 2012. The six-time All-Star has led Portland to eight playoff appearances in the last ten seasons since his debut in the league. Therefore, a piece of concerning news about Lillard’s future could come as a shock to the fans.

Lillard has spent his whole 10-season-long NBA career with the Portland Trail Blazers, since 2012. However, he is yet to win a championship for the franchise. Despite his impressive skills on the court, Lillard has lacked support from his team, resulting in the lack of championship rings. Talking about his plans for the future, Lillard pointed that out in a shocking recent statement.
Damian Lillard: "There's only one thing left to accomplish, and I think y'all know what that is. … We've just got to get this one last thing done, and that will wrap this up and finish the script for me."

I hope we can get him one before he retires. It's hard in the west, but this year feels like the year we can get to the finals. https://t.co/dU5ySdm7Je

Are LeBron James and co. aiming to acquire Lillard?
Earlier this month, rumors began to fly after NBA Insider Jovan Buha reported that the Lakers were interested in bidding for a number of players including Portland’s Damian Lillard, Brooklyn’s Kevin Durant, and Bradley Beal from the Washington Wizards.
As per Buha, “In the ultimate pie-in-the-sky scenario, the Lakers have interest in?Kevin Durant,?Damian Lillard,?and?Bradley Beal if any of the three stars were to become available.”

However, the best Lakers have to offer is an aging Russell Westbrook and two first-round picks. Given the limited options the Lakers have to offer, it is highly unlikely that they would be able to get any of the major stars in the league even if they are available. Meanwhile, Lillard recently signed a two-year extension with Portland until the 2026-27 season. The contract’s estimated worth is $225 million. Thus, it seems unlikely at the moment that the LeBron James-led Lakers would get Lillard.
