The past week has completely changed the NBA landscape following the February 9 trade deadline. Most teams have made major roster changes through blockbuster trades. Similarly, the Los Angeles Lakers, who were pretty inactive in the trading market leading up to the trade deadline, finally traded Russell Westbrook away to the Utah Jazz. Consequently, teams around the league saw the opportunity to acquire the 2017 MVP. The Denver Nuggets were among the few teams who got caught up in the whirlwind of rumors.
However, a reliable source recently threw light on the chances of Brodie wearing a Nuggets uniform. Recently, Colorado sportswriter Mark Singer definitively addressed the rumors running wild in the NBA circles.

Amid the LeBron James celebrations, Rob Pelinka and co subtly pulled the trigger and finally shipped Russell Westbrook to the Utah Jazz. Moreover, they also received an impressive cast of players in exchange. However, the saying on the streets is that Westbrook may never wear a Jazz uniform. Many sources believe that the Jazz will buy him out to free up their salary cap for the next season. Consequently, this theory has slipped the NBA world into a major frenzy trying to figure out the 34-year-old guard’s next destination.
ESPN Sources: The Lakers are finalizing deal to land Minnesota’s D’Angelo Russell, Malik Beasley and Jarred Vanderbilt in trade including Mike Conley and picks to Timberwolves and Russell Westbrook and a lightly protected 2027 LA first-round pick to Jazz.

Interestingly, among the few teams that emerged as favorites, Denver Nuggets were also seemingly interested in acquiring the 9x All-Star. However, as Nuggets fans were fawning over the potential union of MVPs with Westbrook and Nikola Jokic joining forces, a reputable Denver source came out with a major confirmation. Unfortunately, according to Denver Post writer Mike Singer, Westbrook’s chances of going to Denver are slim. While replying to a fan who posed the question of whether the Nuggets were in the run for the 2x scoring champion, Singer candidly revealed the disheartening reality of the trade. He said,?“Would not bet on Russ coming here.”

Singer’s declaration cannot be taken lightly, as in the past he has reported several breaking headlines involving the Nuggets. However, although rumors of Westbrook going to Denver were put to bed, the other interested teams may still be in the run.?
Favorites to land Westbrook
If the Jazz indeed buys out Westbrook, he is open to choosing his destination. However, the disastrous stint with the Lakers has certainly reduced his options. But there are still teams interested in landing the former Laker. Among the few teams, the Los Angeles Clippers have emerged as one of the favorites to acquire the 34-year-old guard. Despite all the star power on the wings, the Clippers lack serious talent at the guard position. Consequently, in pursuit of filling that void, the Clippers are expected to make a move for Westbrook and reunite him with Paul George.
