Gabrielle Union has been in the movie business since 1993. A successful actor, Union married the NBA superstar Dwyane Wade in 2014. Her 30 years in the industry are a testament to two things, one that she is a well-established actor and another, that she knows a lot about how it functions. So with her experience, she reserves the right to speak about the things that are plaguing the industry. During a recent interview, Union spoke on the ongoing tension between two of the biggest organizations in the movie-making business.

Gabrielle Union talks about strikes in Hollywood
There are two major conflicts going on in the industry as of now. The Writers Guild of America is on strike and they are representing 11,500 writers. Allegedly, exploitative practices have prevailed for years and the workers have had enough now. Writers are demanding an increase in funding and more job security in the industry. The association also wants the room space for writers to be increased in every organization.

Whereas the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, SAG-AFTRA also has an impending strike. They are representing 160,000 actors and are about to go on a strike against major studios and streaming platforms. These protests and strikes have a greater impact on the overall performance of the industry. Union said that “Hopefully, these strikes help people see that how we have handled talent is not conducive to collective success.”
Additionally, the actress also said that there are scams going on in the industry in the name of diversity and inclusion. “When you circle back and see all the exposés on what actually happened to that money, the proof is in the pudding. There’s no pudding; we got Jell-O. You can see through it,” she added.
