Ja Morant was reportedly seen brandishing a gun during an Instagram Live video once again. This came as a major shock to many as the 23-year-old was previously suspended for flashing a gun just a couple of months back. Immediately after the incident, just like last time, the Memphis Grizzlies suspended him from all team activities. The team also announced that the league review of the suspension is pending. While Ja holds his breath about the NBA’s verdict on the situation, his sister seems to be celebrating a milestone.

Teniya Morant who is usually referred to as Niya is Ja Morant’s only sibling. Their parents, Tee and Jamie Morant played college basketball. As the saying goes ‘The Apple doesn’t fall far from the tree’, much like her parents and brother, Niya is a basketball star as well.

The Morant family is full of point guards. Tee and Jamie Morant were point guards and now their children Teniya and Ja Morant are also point guards. Niya is already very popular and has over 279k followers on Instagram alone. A few highlight reels of Niya playing high school basketball have gone viral in the recent past. She played for Houston High School, in Germantown Tennessee.

Recently, Niya graduated from high school, and after a model congratulated Niya for her graduation, she shared it on her Instagram story. The Morants are a very close-knit family. Ja Morant and his parents have been seen multiple times supporting Niya during her games. The two-time NBA All-Star was even seen hitting his famous “griddy” while celebrating with his sister in a game.

Similarly, Tee almost always attends the home games of his son. The family, however, could be in a dilemma about whether to celebrate Niya’s graduation amidst the Memphis Grizzlies star’s current controversy.

Ja Morant awaits the verdict

Ja Morant was suspended for eight games in March for his actions on social media. Many feared the controversy could prove to be a huge dent in Morant’s relationship with major brands. However, he came out relatively unscathed in terms of business deals. Nike stood firm with Ja and showed support. Also, the brand recently released Morant’s first signature shoe the JA 1s in April. However, that was not the case with every brand.

Recently, analyst Michael Wilbon stated that he and his family won’t spend any money on Ja’s sneakers after the latest controversy. Amidst this, there were reports that Nike could make a huge decision as well. Furthermore, the NBA could take very stern action this time. And his action could prove to be a huge blow to his young career.
