NBA legend and former champion Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is one of the most vocal personalities in the world of sports and beyond. He regularly talks about important issues using his massive platform and following, and recently, he touched upon the subject of Democracy. According to a report, lawmakers are making it tough for people to avail ballot incentives. With such things happening in three major states, Kareem went all out.

In his latest writeup, he bashed all those in power. Moreover, he also referenced some popular reports about this issue to further justify his criticism.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar raises his voice on the violation of democracy

Los Angeles Lakers legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is not one to sit down and not challenge questionable laws and behavior by the authorities. According to a report, lawmakers are making it harder for people to use ballot initiatives. As a result, they are violating one of the most fundamental laws of democracy according to Kareem.

Abdul-Jabbar wrote, “America is being disemboweled internally by the Republican Party’s sinister campaign to disenfranchise marginalized people from voting. Isn’t democracy what we’re all protecting when we get all sentimental on July Fourth, or salute the flag, or thank military personnel for their service in maintaining democracy?“

Additionally, he also talked about how the lawmakers are going about their business so openly. With little opposition, the perpetrators are pretty confident in themselves. Last but not the least, Kareem rallied his audience to stand up to injustice. The best weapon, according to him, is to vote them out of power.

Kareem recently bashed a decision to allow a wall in Arizona

A few months ago, former Governor Doug Ducey decided to build a 10-mile-long wall in Arizona. Interestingly, it was a wall of old shipping containers along the US-Mexico border.

However, the wall never came to fruition. After widespread protests, local activists occupied the construction site in December and as a result, the Governor ordered the removal of the containers. 

A few days ago, Kareem brought up the topic again and gave his thoughts. He wrote, “Ashbritt, the company that installed the wall for $123.6 million, is also being paid $76.5 million to remove it. That’s $200 million paid by taxpayers for a wall that didn’t do anything.“

The NBA All-Time Top Scorer believed that the idea by Ducey was a complete failure. Moreover, Kareem believes all these efforts were an effort to stay relevant by the Governor.
