The Philadelphia 76ers have only had bad news since their playoff exit last year. Majorly, it was all related to Ben Simmons and his desire to not play for the organization. However, this gave the team a great chance to come together as a unit. Now, even Joel Embiid seems to have found an unlikely partner in the team, and as always, he is having his fun.

Through the whole Simmons situation, the 76ers made a few moves to add stability to their roster. One such move was for center Andre Drummond from the Lakers. Like Ben, Andre did not enjoy a great post-season last year. In the Lakers’ disappointing exit, he barely got any minutes. Driven with frustration, both parties said their goodbyes and he made his way to Philadelphia.

Is Joel Embiid and Andre Drummond an unlikely partnership?

Embiid is coming off a career year from last season. The big man finished in the top 3 in the MVP race, but lost to another center, Nikola Jokic. Fueled with fire, the star is eager to prove himself and now he also has new reinforcements.

And it looks like he has made quite a connection with Andre Drummond. The two have shared quite a complicated relationship prior to being teammates. They had a beef when Drummond was in Detroit and Embiid got the better of him twice. They even went back and forth on Twitter, but Embiid called it all for fun. But, they seem to be friends now and are getting along well. Recently, Joel spoke about Drummond and had great things to say, but he also added his own touch of humor.

Joel Embiid said: “He’s a great guy. Obviously I always kicked his bu**, and he knows it too. But it’s great to be in the same side. He’s a smart basketball player. I have a lot of respect for him. I think he’s going to be huge for us.”
