Michael Jordan is known to be one of the greatest athletes in the world. His fierceness and competitiveness earned him six NBA championships with the Chicago Bulls. However, the 14-time All-Star is quite renowned for trash-talking his opponents. Jordan used mind games to weaken his opponents and then dominated them. Back in 2015, Michael Jordan also bad-mouthed New York Yankees legend Derek Jeter, similar to his comments about NFL Legend Tom Brady.

Derek Jeter and Michael Jordan have been friends since the 1990s. Shortly after the death of his father in 1993, Jordan bid goodbye to the NBA after winning three championships. MJ set out to pursue a professional career in the MLB after losing ‘the sense to prove something as a basketball player.’
The six-time Finals MVP signed a minor league contract with the Chicago White Sox and was assigned to the Double-A Birmingham Barons. Jeter and Jordan came across each other in the Arizona Fall League in 1994 and formed an unbreakable bond of friendship, spanning over two decades.
Michael Jordan used to taunt Derek Jeter
In 2014, Derek Jeter expressed his desire to follow in Michael Jordan’s footsteps and own a sports team. Michael Jordan played his last NBA season in 2003 and went on to buy the Charlotte Hornets in 2010. Moreover, the Chicago Bulls legend suggested that the five-time world series champ had the reputation and the financial position to own an MLB team when he was associated with the Miami Marlins.
However, MJ badmouthed Jeter later in 2015. In fact, he roasted and taunted him for having less championships than him. Soon after, Derek Jeter revealed, “He constantly reminds me that he has six, and I have five.”
Eventually, Jeter bought the Marlins in 2017 and remained a part owner & CEO of the team until February 2022.
MJ once took a similar shot at Tome Brady
MJ has always liked to take pride in his six NBA rings whenever they had discussions about championships. However, Derek Jeter was not the only one that Jordan trash-talked with about his championships. He took a similar dig at Tom Brady during a golf game, inspiring the NFL star to surpass MJ in terms of championship wins.

In 2015, Brady and Jordan had a golf session together in the Bahamas, when the NFL star only had four Super Bowl rings. Michael Jordan told Brady, “Come back to me when you’ve got six championships.”
Surprisingly, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB gave a fitting reply to MJ’s trash-talking by winning three more NFL championships in 2017, 2019, and 2021.
