Brittney Griner‘s wife Cherelle Griner lead the charge demanding her swift release during the WNBA star’s detention in Russia. Griner was arrested in February of last year after Russian officials seized trace amounts of hash oil in her belongings. The 32-year-old spent a long time in exile overseas before reuniting with her family in December. During Griner’s detention, Cherelle used her social media presence as an effective tool to voice her opinions. And she continues to do so.

Recently, Cherelle posted a powerful message for female athletes of the Black community. Following her powerful and stern messaging, she also revealed an amazing surprise planned out by her wife Brittney Griner on the occasion of a special day.

Phoenix Mercury star Brittney Griner spent the majority of 2022 behind bars in Russia. Therefore, she missed out on her wife’s 30th birthday. Although Griner wasn’t present on Cherelle’s special day last year, she made sure to make it up to her this time.

Recently, the WNBA star had a huge surprise planned for Cherelle for her belated birthday from July of last year. BG decorated their room with numerous balloons and a huge number 30 to mark the occasion. Delicious-looking delights were also prepared in order to celebrate Cherelle’s big day!

Cherelle Griner posted a video on Instagram and wrote, “Walked in from our morning hike to this beautiful surprise! ILYSM babe.” Even though she isn’t a fan of sweets, the lawyer said she was ready to devour all the treats prepared by her wife!

This revelation came shortly after Cherelle Griner’s message on behalf of American Black women. The quote on a post shared by her read, “Ya’ll want Black women/girls to be humble winners and gracious losers…the answer is no.” Griner’s strong message comes in the wake of LSU star Angel Reese receiving massive backlash on social media following her ring finger gesture in the NCAA Final against opposition player Caitlin Clark.

Eight-time WNBA All-Star Brittney Griner was all over the news while officials were negotiating her release. She was finally freed on December 8, 2022 and Cherelle was more than delighted to have her back.

Cherelle shared a heartfelt message for the Mercury star on Instagram. She wrote, “Yesterday my heart was made whole thanks to the collective efforts of MANY! I?m humbled by their hearts.”?
