Star of the USA women’s basketball team remembered WNBA star Brittney Griner after winning the gold medal in the 2022 FIBA Women’s World Cup. It has been more than seven months since the arrest of the talented center. The WNBA and the players have been showing constant support for Griner throughout the season. But the situation has not changed. Griner has been a part of the USA women’s basketball team for some years now. Griner has won two Olympic gold medals and two FIBA Women’s World Cups for the country.

And her teammates definitely missed her on the team. However, that did not slow them down. They were as dominant as ever throughout the tournament. The USA women’s team has won the previous three installments of the FIBA world cup. And Griner was part of the last two teams.

In this year’s tournament in Australia, the team was ready to win it for the fourth straight time. And they dominated the tournament without any problem whatsoever. WNBA star A’ja Wilson had a stellar tournament helping the team to the gold medal.

In the Finals of the tournament, team USA faced China for the gold medal. China is one of the few teams that could match up well with the USA in terms of size. And they went toe to toe with the reigning champions in the first two quarters. However, team USA started to pull away a bit at the end of the second quarter. After the break, the USA dominated the game and won the gold medal with a 22-point win.

After helping the team win the fourth straight gold medal in the FIBA Women’s World Cup, Breanna Stewart had a message for Griner. “This is for BG. I hope BG knows she’s in our thoughts,” Stewart said. “We can’t wait for her to come home and hoping that she’s going to be home as soon as possible. BG, we got the gold for you and we miss you and we love you.”

Stewart and Griner played together for the UMMC Ekaterinburg club in Russia during the WNBA offseason. And she has been showing her support for her former teammate ever since her arrest. After playing for UMMC Ekaterinburg in the past two seasons, Stewart has opted to play for the Turkish team Fenerbah?e Safiport this offseason.
