After Smashing China, USA Drags South Korea to the Ground in 145 Point Routing During FIBA World Cup

Team USA continued their winning streak at the FIBA Women’s World Cup on Monday as they defeated South Korea by a massive margin. After a close-fought game against China, Team US faced South Korea, establishing a tournament record by putting up 145 points against the Asian team. The US women’s team managed to break the 143 points tournament record which was set by Brazil in 1990.

Team USA was quick off the court as they took an early advantage and ended the game with a scoreline of 145-69. Brionna Jones scored the highest, 24 points for the American team while shooting 12-of-14 from the field. Moreover, WNBA champ A’ja Wilson supported Jones with 20 points during the game. In total, eight American players scored in double figures during the encounter against South Korea. 

Meanwhile, Hyejin Park was the lead scorer for South Korea with 17 points. The victory was Team USA’s 26th straight win in the FIBA World Cup. They have not lost a game since the 2006 semifinals, equaling their previous team record from 1994-2006. Team USA has already qualified for the quarterfinals after three straight victories against China, Puerto Rico, and Belgium.

Team USA has averaged 107.2 points per game in the tournament so far. The American team currently sits on the top spot of the Group A table with their fifth consecutive victory in the tournament against Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Can Team USA win the FIBA Women’s World Cup?

On Tuesday, Team USA continued their winning streak and beat Bosnia and Herzegovina by 121-59. Kesley Plum scored the highest 20 points with four rebounds and seven assists during the game. Moreover, four American stars, including Plum, Chelsea Gray, Breanna Stewart, and Shakira Austin scored at least 15 points for the team.

Team USA has not lost a single game so far. They are the favorites for winning the FIBA World Cup this year. The American team will face Serbia on 29th September during the quarterfinals.
