The 2022-23 season didn’t go the right way for the Brooklyn Nets star Ben Simmons. The three-time All-Star didn’t perform like an All-Star throughout the season and was eventually shut down by his team due to his lingering nerve impingement. Due to his bad form, the Nets star also received a fair amount of flak from NBA legends like Shaquille O’Neal and Charles Barkley in the past. However, an NBA legend has recently stood by his side in a rare show of support, leaving fans divided in their opinions.
Simmons recently received a plethora of kind words from the 2008 NBA champion, Kevin Garnett. This, in turn, elicited fans’ attention and made them reflect on the affair on social media.

In the new episode of?Ticket & The Truth, Kevin Garnett and Matt Barnes talked about a myriad of intriguing topics surrounding the league. During the show, Garnett spoke about Simmons in one of the segments. He started by saying, “I want you to go back and find your roots, man.”
In addition to that, he suggested that the Brooklyn Nets star needs to go back and find what made him fall in love with basketball. He added, “You got a lot to give to the game, bro”
Subsequently,?The Big Ticket further stated, “I hate to say that. I think he got another run in him, but it’s going to be Ben Simmons. Not his mom, not none of this collective around him.” The 2004 MVP claimed that he was distressed after he came across the news of the three-time All-Star being shut down.
The former Boston Celtics star concluded, “But he got to come back. He got to give us something, bro…I need to see some summer workouts…None of that f**king IG sh*t…I’m talking about some real life workouts, bro. That’s what the NBA is.”
This season was undoubtedly the worst season for Simmons as he could only manage to average 6.9 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 6.1 assists in 42 games. During the 2022-23 campaign, the Australian’s weaknesses, especially his shooting got exposed and these weaknesses seemingly stopped him from reaching his full potential along with injuries. Simmons needs to work on quite a few things in the offseason to overcome his weaknesses. Garnett’s statements indicated that he was optimistic about the Nets star.
