The Los Angeles Lakers had one of the worst seasons in franchise history. Despite having the star trio of LeBron James, Russell Westbrook, and Anthony Davis, the team failed to even make the playoffs.

Out of all the Lakers stars, Westbrook has faced the wrath of the media and the fans more often than not. Moreover, there have been rumors linking him to other teams the entire offseason.

According to the latest reports, two teams are in the mix to sign Westbrook. They are the Utah Jazz and the Indiana Pacers. While Westbrook has been linked to the Pacers for some time now, it seems the Jazz is the more likely option.

While the Lakers would be more than willing to bring in Buddy Hield in place of Westbrook, it seems the deal is ‘dead’. According to The Athletic’s Johan Buva, “As far as Westbrook’s trade market, I’ve heard Indiana and Utah are the two most likely destinations. I think Utah is, from what I’ve been told, more likely than Indiana.

Moreover, the departure of Donovan Mitchell is looking likely this off-season. Mitchell’s departure and the Lakers’ willingness to trade away Westbrook could work well for both parties. Although the new Lakers coach has asserted that he is looking to play Westbrook, the former MVP’s future still hangs in the air.

How good was Russell Westbrook last season?

There is no denying that the Los Angeles Lakers had an underwhelming season. After acquiring Russell Westbrook from the Washington Wizards, the team looked championship worthy. After all, a trio of LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and Westbrook does sound good.
