Kyrie Irving posted a cryptic message on Twitter after officially exiting from Nike. He posted a gif stating, “There’s nothing more priceless than being free“. He recently showed off his new-found freedom and put it on display during the game between the Brooklyn Nets and the Charlotte Hornets.

Irving is now a sneaker-free agent. He seemingly?covered up his Nike shoes with messages to attract other potential apparel companies. The message on one side was displayed in gold lettering, “I am free” with another line of him thanking God. On the other side of the shoe, he resorted to an interesting salesman tactic by dropping a message that said, “Logo here”.

The Brooklyn Nets player got creative tonight with both his shoe and his game. He finished the game with 33 points, 9 assists, and 5 rebounds. He led his team in scoring to help them win against the Charlotte Hornets 122-116 in the end.

Nike officially announced that they were going to cut ties with Kyrie Irving just a few days ago. The company was uncertain about continuing its sneaker deal with Iriving from the beginning of this year.

With the recent controversies surrounding the player, that decision may have been expedited. Prior to cutting ties, they had suspended the player last month and even pulled back on his latest release: the Kyrie 8.

Kyrie Irving parts ways with Nike

Phil Knight, the co-founder of the company, had said last month that the company didn’t align with certain statements that Kyrie Irving made. “And that’s why we ended the relationship“. This announcement foreshadowed their expected divorce.

A Nike spokesperson also said, “Kyrie is no longer a Nike athlete“.?His agent, Shetellia Riley Irving, said that the decision was mutual.

Kyrie Irving’s Nike shoes were among the most popular and the most successful. With the early termination of their contract ahead of its 2023 expiration, Kyrie Irving can now sign a new deal of his choosing. However, he has lost a revenue stream of around $17 million that he made from his Nike contract, as per Forbes.
