A couple of months ago, Kyrie Irving was in the headlines for arguably his biggest controversy. The Brooklyn Nets star was labeled to be antisemitic after sharing the link to a controversial movie. A large number of consequences hit KAI. The biggest was probably him losing a signature shoe deal with Nike. Irving lost nearly $11 million due to his one mistake. While he has apologized for his mistakes, there is a surprise. Shockingly, it seems the Nets guard is enjoying his shoe freedom.
Irving was arguably one of Nine?s biggest draws. His popular sneakers collaborations always had fans on the edge. In addition, his sneaker had creative prowess. Likewise, as one of their biggest stars, the 30-year-old got himself seven signature shoes. An eighth was supposed to release. However, the recent controversy put a halt to the much-anticipated release of the Kyrie 8.
After losing the deal, KAI and Nike might have officially parted ways, but the All-Star guard continues to proudly wear his shoe. However, with the freedom, he now puts tape over the swoosh. Each night Kyrie Irving goes out to ball, a message takes the place of Nike?s trademark swoosh.

In the loss to the Detroit Pistons, Irving had an explosive night. He went off for 40 points, his fifth straight 30+ point game. He wore a red and black colorway of his Kyrie 3 against Detroit. Moreover, his sneaker tradition saw no change either. Growing more direct with his messages, KAI hand-wrote ?Black Revolution? on his feet.
Initially, Kyrie Irving began with subtle messages according to Sports Illustrated. Notably, they were more about thanking his ancestors and even a call for freedom. Now it seems the 2016 NBA champion is growing more direct with each game. Likewise, the eight-time All-Star probably has no plans to stop anytime soon.
