Clearly, the win brought some smiles back to the Lakers organization and fanbase. However, there seems to be something more to be happy about. A recent update regarding Anthony Davis has lifted the hopes of the Lakers. This is especially true since the aim of the franchise is to make the playoffs. And if they get there, LeBron will finally have his partner back in action.

The Update on Anthony Davis

It was on February 16th in a win over the Jazz that Anthony Davis would succumb to injury. Many feared that Davis’ season was over. However, there appears to be some positive news regarding the big man. As reported by Adrian Wojnarowski, Anthony Davis seems to be making progress on the mid-foot sprain that he suffered in the game against the Jazz.

“His walking boot is off, and I’m told this week the next step for him is he’ll get on the court and start to do some stationary shooting,” said Woj.

“With 16 games left for the Lakers and the toughest schedule left in the league, the expectation is that they can still hang on to the play-in and get in the postseason and they can have Anthony Davis back,” he added.

Clearly, since AD went down, LeBron has been his team’s sole provider. Moreover, the Lakers have just won two games after the game against the Jazz. To make matters worse, the franchise has the toughest schedule in the league. Evidently, AD’s return must be as soon as possible so that he can support LeBron and the Lakers.

Since AD went down, LeBron has stepped up his game quite a bit. In fact, he has had 2 games with at least 50 points. However, most of the games have not resulted in favor of the Lakers. This is due to the fact that the other members on the roster have not played their best. Lacking AD’s presence, LeBron’s load has increased. This makes things difficult since the Lakers have a tough set of games coming up.

As for Anthony Davis, it has been yet another injury-riddled season. The big man has only played 37 games this year and has not looked anything like the AD we saw in 2019-20. Moreover, his shooting average from beyond the arc is 18.2%. This is much below what he averaged in the championship-winning year. So clearly, even if AD returns, there is still a lot of work to be done.

Regardless, his resume ensures at least a potential of winning. Moreover, LeBron will have his partner back and can share the load with him. The Lakers will hope for a miracle this season if they are to lift the title.
