Hollywood star Gabrielle Union has never shied away from using her voice for a noble cause. Dwyane Wade’s wife is not only a famed actress, best-selling author and an entrepreneur, but is also an activist and philanthropist. Leading every struggle for social justice from the forefront, Union recently extended her support for labor rights in Hollywood. Apart from that, Union also bestowed 75 grand to help fellow women entrepreneurs.

While making a fortune through her haircare brand, Gabrielle Union has not forgotten to uplift fellow women and their businesses. Through a grant offered by her haircare brand, DWade’s wife has now helped three black women and their business enterprises.

Dwyane Wade’s wife Gabrielle Union dishes out $75,000 to help women entrepreneurs

Back in 2020, when the COVID-19 pandemic shut the world down, Gabrielle Union’s haircare brand Flawless by Gabrielle Union launched the ‘Lift as We Climb’ initiative to support businesses owned by black women. A total of 500 submissions for the grant were narrowed down by Dwyane Wade’s wife and an expert panel to six finalists who would advance to a virtual pitch competition.

Recently, Flawless has selected three eligible recipients from the six participants. Union’s venture will dish out $25,000 each for the three recipients each.

Todd Patrick by Desyree Thomas is the recipient from the fashion category. O’Dara Exotic Skin Care by Najah Elessie won the grant from the skincare category. In the haircare accessory category, Sotro by Stephanie Louis, won the grant.

According to a report on Afrotech.com, O’Dara Exotic Skin Care founder Najah Elessie was on the verge of discontinuing her venture. According to the report, Elessie penned down an emotional note thanking Gabrielle Union and her venture for the support. Besides, Elessie plans to use the grant funds to open a spa that supports people by addressing mental health specifically.

Gabrielle Union raised her voice for Hollywood writers

Since May 2, the Writers Guild of America has been protesting against the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers to ensure better working circumstances for the Writers. Gabrielle Union was quick to side with the 11,500 writers who are on strike. WGA’s distinguished member, Caroline Renard, acknowledged Union’s support for the cause in a tweet. Union quickly responded to the Tweet and remarked, “Why do we do what we do, the fight continues.”
