The Boston Celtics are going to have to bring their A-game if they want to have a shot at winning the coveted 18th championship for the franchise. Jayson Tatum and the Celtics are currently trailing the Philadelphia 76ers with Joel Embiid and Co. having a chance to close out the series at home on Thursday. The Celtics will have their work cut out as teams leading 3-2 in the postseason have gone on to win 84% of the time. Following the Game 5 loss, one particular Celtics star had quite a lot to say about the team’s performance.
The Celtics did not have the best start to their series matchup with the 76ers. They tasted defeat in the first face-off itself but bounced back pretty soon and secured two back-to-back wins during Games 2 and 3. After the 76ers tied the series with the Game 4 win, tonight’s game became huge in terms of momentum.

Shortly after the game, Celtics star Marcus Smart shared his views on the defeat during a brief interview with Jay King of The Athletic. During the interview, Smart compared the playoff series to that of a dogfight. He said, “The brutality of it. It’s a true dogfight, scratching and clawing, biting, blood, everything.” Smart continued, “And if you’re not willing to pretty much get dirty, if you’re not willing to bleed. If you?re not willing to break something, willing to tear something going hard, then you shouldn?t be on that court because that’s what it is.”
Smart added that while he wishes for the players to remain safe on the court, he believed that one needed to ‘risk it all’ in order to gain an upper hand in such games.
