Alvarado went undrafted last season after playing college basketball with Georgia Tech for four years. Moreover, he averages 6.1 points, 2.7 assists, and 1.8 rebounds this season for the New Orleans Pelicans.
Currently, the Pelicans have a full 15 man roster but 15th man Tyrone Wallace is only on a 10-day contract that expires soon. This opens the door for Alvarado, who fits into the team perfectly. Furthermore, this signing allows him to play the postseason games.

How has the team performed this season?
Despite the inability to field star player Zion Williamson for the entire season, the Pelicans have held onto the play-in spot for some time now. Currently, the team takes the 9th position in the Western Conference. They are expected to get a play-in spot at least, if not the playoff spot directly.
