Kobe Bryant and Charles Barkley, two NBA greats, had a relationship that could be characterized as one of mutual respect rather than intimate friendship. The ferocity of their on-court competition frequently generated trash-talking and physical altercations between them. Despite their competitive nature on the court, they shared a genuine respect for one another’s extraordinary talents.

Off the field, Barkley and Bryant kept up a friendly relationship, occasionally talking and interacting at NBA events and All-Star games. Even though their personal connection may not have blossomed into a close friendship, they deeply respected each other. However, Charles Barkley recently disclosed what Kobe failed to do while questioning if he was capable of achieving it in the first place.

Charles Barkley recently appeared on an episode of the podcast

‘New Heights,’ hosted by Jason Kelce and Travis Kelce from the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs. While on the show, the trio went over a wide array of topics, including why Chuck gave up on pursuing football, his retirement, and his pick for the NBA finals. They also talked about the late Los Angeles Laker legend, Kobe Bryant. Surprisingly, Bryant was supposed to be a cast member of the ‘NBA On TNT.’ Can you picture how that could’ve gone?

‘Inside the NBA’ crew would change the show. Chuck then answered his question.

Although, in his response, he ended up taking down Bryant

.”I don’t think his personality…..  I don’t think he’s built to have a lot of fun.” He continued, ” I don’t know like I don’t know if …He’s a great person, I liked him.  Rest in peace yeah like he’s a real serious guy.”

Chuck then went on to explain why Kobe wouldn’t have fit in the crew. He said,

“And the problem you have if you’re gonna do our show, I don’t think people understand…We on from seven to two in the morning. With the air of seriousness around him, Bryant might have made the show intense when people might just be browsing for something to laugh at and unwind to. Kobe Bryant was considered for the role of a crew member. However, Bryant was not on board with the whole doing radio shows and interview deals. This is a crucial part of the role of a host.
