Jailed WNBA star Brittney Griner has been the center of attraction for quite some time now. However, this is not the first time she is facing such a situation.
Ever since her days at Baylor University, Griner has been a popular and controversial figure. Most of the criticism she has received is because of her sexuality. Griner has always been open about her sexuality which has raised some eyebrows over the years.

Interestingly enough, talking about it in her book, Griner revealed an interesting proposition by a Billionaire NBA team owner. It is none other than Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban.
Cuban talked about Griner and how he would draft her in the NBA. This certainly made some headlines but this was not the main issue of the headlines surrounding Griner. It was her sexuality after she had casually talked about it. Griner wrote, “But most of the stories centered around my sexuality after I casually acknowledged that I’m gay.”
Despite all such controversies, she has always been open and confident about herself. Numerous people around the world hold her in high regard and idolize her because of how confident she is.
Although Griner was always caught up in some controversy or other, she never faltered on the court. Playing for the Baylor Bears, BG quickly was one of the hottest prospects entering the WNBA draft.
Mark Cuban wanted Brittney Griner to play in the summer league
Playing for the Phoenix Mercury, Brittney Griner was one of the best players in the league. Interestingly enough, Mark Cuban wanted to bring her talents to the NBA.
When asked about whether Griner playing in the NBA summer league held in Vegas would be a good marketing move or not, Cuban readily agreed. He said, “It would, wouldn’t it? See how she could do? That’d sell out a few games.”
Nevertheless, this interesting proposition never came to fruition. Cuban was aware of Griner’s potential even before she made her debut in the WNBA.

She was drafted by the Phoenix Mercury as the #1 overall pick. Ever since her debut, she has been one of the best players in the league. In 9 seasons, Griner averages 17.7 points, 1.8 assists, and 7.6 rebounds.
