Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry is back on the court after taking a three-week-long break following his shoulder injury in mid-December. The Baby-Faced Assassin has faced his first opponent post-injury. However, he is still not fully recovered yet and was seen wearing a shooting sleeve during Tuesday night’s game against the Phoenix Suns. When asked about the purpose of the sleeve during the post-game interviews, the 4x NBA champion gave a brief explanation as to why he chose to play with the sleeve on.

Stephen Curry was speculated to make a comeback on January 13 for the game against the San Antonio Spurs. However, Curry apparently decided to surprise Warriors fans by returning earlier than the scheduled time. Due to the shoulder injury Curry had sustained during the game against the Indiana Pacers on December 14, Steph had to take a break from the court which resulted in him missing 11 games in a row.

Stephen Curry explains the reason behind his shooting sleeve

The Golden State Warriors faced the Phoenix Suns on January 10 at the Dubs’ home arena Chase Center. Throughout the game, Curry was seen wearing a black sleeve on his left arm reaching up to his shoulder. Despite Curry’s return and teammate Klay Thompson?showing up to work, the Suns, who were playing without several of their star players, defeated the Warriors by 125-113.

During a post-game interview, Anthony Slater of The Athletic asked Curry about the purpose of the sleeve he had worn at the game. The black shooting sleeve had some fans worried that Curry’s injury has not recovered fully and can be a lingering issue during the season. In response, the 8x NBA All-Star replied that the sleeve was worn for support.

“It gives you support and keeps it warm…allowed me to feel composed in terms of everything I’m trying to do, strengthening my shoulder, keep it right,” Curry said during the interview.

Furthermore, Slater asked if Steph felt any pain in his shoulder during the game, while taking a hit.

The 2X NBA MVP replied, “Anytime you have an injury, whether I feel it or not is more so I’m not thinking about it during the game and that’s the point you had to get to before you are cleared to play. So, I don’t think it matters how much I feel it, it’s just that when I’m out there hooping I’m not really thinking about it at all.”

Curry scored 24 points, one rebound, and three assists in the game against the Suns. Warriors guard Klay Thompson led the team by 29 points and five rebounds in the losing game.
