Jimmy Butler is a fierce competitor. His deep-rooted competitive spirit coupled with his basketball talents are what propelled the Houston native to this stage. However, it seems his fierce competitiveness leaks beyond the realms of hoops and has just infiltrated the world of padel.

Padel, which can be viewed as a variation of tennis, has grown in popularity lately. The Miami Heat superstar appears to have hopped on the padel bandwagon and seems to be confident in his abilities. So much so that he challenged fellow Heat legend and former teammate Dwyane Wade to a game of padel.

Butler stepped foot in Los Angeles recently, and the first thing he did was to call out the former NBA player. He took to social media to issue a challenge to Wade, saying, Dwyane Wade, I?ve touched down in Los Angeles. I challenge you, yes I do, to a match of this padel. ? Accept my challenge, chump!”?

Butler also noted that there is money at stake, as the loser must donate to a charity of their choice. Wade, being the competitive beast that he is, accepted the challenge.

Interestingly, Butler continued to fire vocal jabs at the three-time NBA champion just before their padel match was about to commence.

Jimmy Butler was oozing confidence and knew there was no chance for Wade to beat him. And that’s exactly how things transpired.

It didn’t take long for Jimmy Butler and Dwyane Wade to get down and dirty on the padel court. Butler, who was exhibiting a lot of confidence in his padel talents, walked the talk and emerged victorious.

As one might assume, the Miami Heat superstar didn’t stop talking trash after the victory. While Wade accepted his defeat and committed to performing better next time, Butler proceeded with the verbal jabs, declaring, “The flash is no more!”?

Following this, both burst out laughing, with Wade commenting, “You talking trash now, huh?” They eventually hugged it out, exhibiting mutual love and respect.

Padel’s popularity has skyrocketed, and it is on track to make it to the Olympics as well. The sport is gaining traction in several European nations, and soccer superstars such as Lionel Messi and David Beckham have supported it.

Padel has long been a popular sport in Spanish-speaking countries. However, there has been a massive change in the game’s popularity over the last decade, to the point that it is currently only second to soccer in Spain.
