“A Role Model Father”: Kobe Bryant and Daughter Gigi’s Resurfaced Photo Leaves NBA Fans In Tears Over The Unfortunate Loss Of The Lakers Legend

It has been more than two years since Kobe and Gigi Bryant passed away. Lakers fans still remember all the five rings he brought to that team. He was the “Mamba” whose mental makeup was as strong as Michael Jordan.

He wasn’t flawless but turned out to be a man who loved his family till the very end of his life. His family became his life, and they also loved him back equally.

Today, a photo of him and little Gigi Bryant has resurfaced. In the photo, Kobe is doing leg extensions while his daughter Gigi, who is just two, watching on. His trainer, Thomas Evans was present too in 2008. It left many a fan misty-eyed about him and his daughter.

Kobe Bryant and Gigi Bryant’s Passing: The timeline

On the 26th of February 2020, Kobe and Gigi Bryant passed away because of a helicopter crash. This also included six family friends, and the pilot, Ara Zobayan. The group was traveling to Camarillo Airport in Ventura County for a basketball game at Mamba Sports Academy in Thousand Oaks.

At 9:45 a.m., the helicopter crashed into the side of a mountain in Calabasas, about 30 miles (48 km) northwest of downtown Los Angeles. It began burning. Bryant, his daughter, and the other seven occupants passed away on impact. Initial reports indicated that the helicopter crashed in the hills above Calabasas in heavy fog.

On January 28, Bryant’s identity was officially confirmed using fingerprints. The following day, the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner stated that his and the other’s official cause of death was blunt force trauma.

On February 7, Bryant and his daughter were buried in a private funeral in Pacific View Memorial Park in the Corona del Mar neighborhood of Newport Beach, California.

A public service was held on February 24 (2/24), marking both Kobe’s and Gianna’s jersey numbers at Staples Center with Jimmy Kimmel hosting. Speakers at the service included Vanessa, Michael Jordan, and Shaquille O’Neal. Phoenix Mercury guard Diana Taurasi also spoke along with Geno Auriemma, Taurasi’s coach at Connecticut, where Gianna had been aspiring to play.
