Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen were the permanent pieces of the Chicago Bulls roster during the franchise’s two three-peats in the 1990s. However, several other stars significantly contributed to the Bulls’ success. One such star was Scottie Pippen’s best buddy who played an important role during the Bulls’ first three-peat run. However, after Pip’s first divorce in 1990, the former Bulls star was left with a sense of guilt.
Scottie Pippen met his first wife Karen McCollum in 1987, the same year he joined the Bulls as a rookie. The six-time NBA champ got married to McCollum a year later after the former couple had a son. However, his marriage with McCollum came to an end in 1990. Incidentally, the shocking turn in Pippen’s life left his Bulls teammate and best friend guilt-ridden about his own situation.

As per Sam Smith’s ‘The Jordan Rules’, Scottie Pippen and Horace Grant became the best of buddies when they joined the Bulls together as rookies in 1987.? Pippen and Grant were inseparable during their early days with the Bulls. They fought together on the court and went on off-court adventures afterward.
Horace and Pippen’s friendship was so strong that they had the same car, they hung out & partied together, and their houses were within a hundred yards of each other in Chicago. Shockingly, Pippen and Horace got married within weeks of each other and served as the best man for one another. They even shared the same agent and went on vacations with their families together.
Surprisingly, Scottie Pippen and Horace Grant also found themselves in marriage troubles together. While Pippen and Grant were distanced due to their personal problems, Scottie’s divorce hit Horace hard and left him feeling that he would be the next.
In the book, Horace Grant admitted, “My wife and I were having a lot of problems. And a lot of it was my fault. I wasn’t treating people right, especially my wife.”
