NBA superstar LeBron James is only about 35 points away from surpassing Hall of Famer Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as the new all-time scoring leader in the league’s history. Fans will most likely witness the historic moment during the Los Angeles Lakers vs Oklahoma City Thunder game that is set to take place on February 7 at the Lakers’ home court. Interestingly, ahead of the impending event, King James dropped a major childhood confession regarding his impending predecessor.
The relationship between Kareem and LeBron can be described as bittersweet. This is due to Kareem’s harsh critical assessment of King James. While the NBA legend has often praised LeBron for his on-court performances, Kareem has also never missed the opportunity to criticize the Akron Hammer.
LeBron James talk about Kareem’s sky-hook shot

In an exclusive interview with Michael Wilbon of ESPN, LeBron James got into talking about achieving yet another milestone before Wilbon shared his thoughts about LeBron breaking Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s record with the latter’s signature sky hook. Wilbon then asked the 4x NBA champion if he had ever tried the sky hook shot. LeBron replied that he never really tried Kareem’s sky hook until just recently. The Los Angeles Lakers superstar explained that he grew up in the era of NBA legends such as Michael Jordan. Therefore, he was more into practicing their signature shots.
“When I was younger, I grew up in an era of ‘Fadeaway’ sensation that MJ kind of started. Or the ‘Crossover’ sensation that Allen Iverson created or the ‘No-look pass’, you know that J-Kidd and actually Magic kind of had.
James added that he only made sky hook shots while playing one-on-one. LeBron shared that he would try Kareem’s signature shot just to see who was better between him and his friends.

“I’ve never toyed around with sky-hook unless you’re playing the game of Horse. You’re playing the game of Horse, you’re messing around, seeing if you can get one not thinking that your friend will be able to make it,” LeBron told Wilbon.
Kareem’s comments triggers LeBron fans
Due to his past comments, LeBron James fans are not really fond of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. This is why the 6x NBA champion recently faced major backlash from NBA fans due to his comments on James. In a recent episode of NBA on TNT, Kareem shared his thoughts on passing his crown to LeBron.
