Brandon Miller, one of the most exciting basketball prospects in the country has landed himself in deep trouble. He plays for the Alabama Crimson Tide and is currently in his freshman year. However, he has made more headlines this year than all of the other prospects in the university combined. A few months ago, police officials found the body of Jamea Jonae Harris in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
After further investigations, it was deduced that Miller was in contact with the potential suspect right before the fatal shooting took place. During a recent press conference, Miller finally broke his silence and gave his thoughts on the matter.

Jamea Jonae Harris, a mother of a 5-year-old child was allegedly shot and killed by Michale ‘Buzz’ Davis, an associate of Darius Miles, not very far away from the University of Alabama Campus. Miles was a player for the Alabama Crimson Tide along with Brandon Miller.
Officials arrested Miles shortly after the shooting. After initial investigations, it was found that Miller had allegedly supplied the firearm used in the crime. The firearm itself however belonged to Miles. The basketball sensation was in contact with Miles via text and Miles later handed the same gun to his accomplice.
Recently, Brandon Miller broke his silence on the issue. He said, “I never lose sight of the fact that a family has lost one of their loved ones that night. This whole situation is just, really heartbreaking.”

Despite his alleged involvement in the crime, Miller was not suspended by the University. The Alabama athletic director once asserted that the decision to not suspend Miller was taken collectively. Naturally, this has caused a huge stir among the students and others as chants against Miller have been heard in games.
Does this incident affect Miller’s chances in the NBA?
The former five-star recruit stands 6-foot-9 inches tall. He leads the SEC in scoring and has the potential to become a top two-way wing in the near future. However, his alleged involvement in the crime might pose a problem. Although the University has not taken any action against the youngster, his reputation has certainly taken a hit.

According to the CBS Sports Top 50 NBA Draft prospect rankings, Miller ranks number 3 on the list. Interestingly, he ranks behind Victor Wembanyama and Scoot Henderson, two of the biggest basketball prospects in the world.
